You’re staring up at your two-storey bahay that badly needs repainting before the rainy season hits. Or maybe it’s a leaky roof, a cracked wall, or that gutter that’s been sagging for months. You know you need scaffolding, climbing a ladder against a two-storey wall is asking for an accident. But the moment you start looking for scaffolding for rent Metro Manila, the same question stops you cold: how many sets do you actually need?
Order too few, and your workers are stuck reworking the setup halfway through the job. Order too many, and you’re paying for scaffolding sets that just sit there unused. Neither is fun, especially when you’re already juggling a renovation budget.
The good news: figuring this out isn’t complicated once you know the standard sizes and a simple formula. This guide walks you through exactly how to size your scaffolding needs per meter of wall.
Before you can calculate anything, you need to know what you’re working with. In the Philippines, scaffolding rental companies almost universally use one standard unit: the H-frame scaffolding.
A standard H-frame set measures 1.2 meters wide by 1.7 meters tall. Two vertical posts are connected by a horizontal crosspiece, forming the “H” shape, hence, the name. This is the size you’ll see across nearly every scaffolding supplier in Metro Manila.
Because the width is fixed at 1.2 meters, that number becomes your basic unit of measurement whenever you’re calculating how many sets you need to cover a wall. Think of it like tiling a floor, each H-frame is one “tile” of coverage along your wall’s length.
If your ceiling or roofline is taller than 1.7 meters (which it almost always is), you stack a second H-frame on top, or add a shorter extension frame, until you reach the height you need. That’s the second half of the sizing equation, which we’ll get to shortly.
This is the question most homeowners actually mean when they ask about “scaffolding sets per meter.” Here’s the simple version.
Since each H-frame set is 1.7 tall, you divide your wall’s height by 1.7, then round up.
Say you have a project of a 20 meter building.
20 ÷ 1.7 = 12 sets
If you’re working on a wide building, you divide your wall’s length by 1.2, then round up.
6 ÷ 1.2 = 5 sets across
That’s your horizontal coverage.
Most project especially residential projects don’t have an engineer, you can send the project details to us like the length and height of the building. We’ll provide you a quotation for it. No hassle!
Here’s where the math becomes budget-friendly.
